Each of our clients are unique. They each come with their own struggles, concerns, and triumphs. No matter what their background or their choice, RealOptions lovingly supports them through their entire process. Here are some true stories from our clients.
Mary couldn’t believe it was happening again...
Mary* couldn’t believe it was happening again. A few months ago she found out she was pregnant and panicked. Her boyfriend took her to an abortion clinic to “take care of the problem” before anyone else knew about it. Mary agreed to the abortion, even though she didn’t think it was the right thing to do. But not knowing what her options were, she went along with it.
It had been months since her last period and she was worried she was pregnant again. Mary was living with her aunt now and decided to share her fears with her aunt because she was terrified of another abortion. Mary’s aunt, Lilly*, listened quietly as Mary told her what was happening. Then Lily shared something she had never told anyone- she also had a baby as a teenager. Lilly had become pregnant when she was still in high school and decided to make an adoption plan for her child knowing that she was not ready for the full-time responsibility of motherhood. Mary was shocked! She had no idea Lilly had gone through the same thing that she was and also had no idea that adoption could be a choice for her.
Later that night, an ad for RealOptions came on during a show Mary was watching on TV. Never having heard of RealOptions, she looked us up online and requested an appointment through our website. She came to our clinic a few days later and met with one of our Client Advocates to talk about what was going on in her life. Mary talked about her abortion a few months ago and how not a day went by that she did not regret her choice. “If only I had known about RealOptions,” Mary said, “I would not have had the abortion.” In her loneliness and desperation, she made the only choice that she had heard of for an unplanned pregnancyabortion. Mary was relieved when the pregnancy test read by the staff nurse came back negative. However, that did not lessen the guilt from her previous abortion. Her Advocate talked with Mary about the HOPE Bible study and Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat weekends to work through her feelings and memories about her abortion. Mary promised to consider them. Because she was so grateful for the love and acceptance she found here, Mary left the clinic that day promising to tell all her friends about RealOptions if they found themselves facing an unplanned pregnancy.
